How to Get a Transponder

If you are new to RiverLink, you can get a transponder by opening a prepaid account or picking up a RiverLink Starter Kit. See below for details.

If you already have a prepaid account, simply log in to manage your account and then update your license plate information to get a transponder.

In a Hurry?

There’s no need to visit a customer service center in person. When customers request a transponder online or by phone, the lower toll rates take effect as soon as the vehicle is added to the account. To keep receiving the transponder rate, mount the transponder as soon as it arrives in the mail.

Option 1: Open a Prepaid Account

Personal and commercial accounts can be opened online, by phone or in person at a RiverLink customer service center.

Online

  2. Add money to the account*
  3. Add the vehicle(s) to your license plate list
  4. Transponder(s) will be mailed free of charge within about 10 business days

Option 2: Purchase a RiverLink Starter Kit

The RiverLink starter kit is available at select retail locations in Kentucky and Indiana. The starter kit includes a RiverLink local transponder, a reload card and a customer agreement. Customers load $20 to $500 on the prepaid transponder at checkout. There is a one-time $3.00 activation fee.

Customers do not need to register the transponder or their car to use the starter kit transponder. However, the transponder can be added to a prepaid account later if desired. By doing so, customers will enjoy the full benefits of a RiverLink prepaid account, including no reloading fees, access to auto-replenishment and access to account statements.
