Transponders from Other States

Across the United States, there are many different tolling agencies. Some of these agencies are part of a larger network.

RiverLink is part of the E-ZPass network, which is one of the largest electronic tolling networks. If you already have an E-ZPass transponder from another state, it will work on the Louisville-Southern Indiana tolled bridges, but it will not qualify for the RiverLink frequent-user discount. If your transponder from another state is not part of the E-ZPass network, it will not work on our local bridges.

For example:

  • I-Pass is part of the E-ZPass network and works with our local tolled bridges. I-Pass is used in Illinois and on the Indiana Toll Road.
  • Florida’s SunPass is not currently part of the E- ZPass network and does not work on our local bridges.

What Happens If a Transponder Is Not Compatible

If you cross one of the Louisville-Southern Indiana tolled bridges with a transponder that is not compatible, high-resolution cameras capture a photo of the license plate. The toll can be paid online, or an invoice is mailed to the registered owner of the vehicle. More Details About Pay by Mail/Pay by Plate
